BEIJING HOTEL ROOMS OLYMPICS 2008 CHINA - TRAVEL

The 2008 Olympic Games - Beijing Hotels Rooms

Accommodation

There are many challenges that any Olympic hosting country must take on and the same is true of China and the hosting of the 2008 Olympic Games. There is much development and construction and there will be many changes to be faced.

One of those is the accommodation in Beijing for the 10,000+ athletes, 20,000+ media and maybe 200,000 officiating personell. And not to mention the millions of spectators who plan to see this glorious event from both China and from overseas. So many want to be able to witness and participate in the aura of excellence, the strife of competition and also the peripheral events and welcomes prepared by the Chinese hosts.

With this pressures on accommodation and hotel rooms, the activity over the last five years has been immense. Goals were set and these are well towards being achieved at this stage.

Athletes and Media Accommodation

For athletes, there will be some 12,000 apartments furnished. Another 10,000 apartment units will be developed for the media as well. All of these are being built by private developers who will then offer the housing units as condominiums after the games have finished.

For the Olympic Games 2008

But, that is not all that needs to be considered. In 2000, Beijing was able to attract and maintain a total of over 70 million visitors both domestic and international within their city. Can you envisage the increase on this figure who will visit Beijing during 2008?

For 2008 there will be over 130,000 Beijing hotel rooms in hotels which have been officially rated. In addition there will be very many private accommodation rooms available to rent, plus hostels, apartments, etc.

Because of the size of the city, there are plans to utilize much of this housing for increased tourism in the years to come. Like in other Olympic host cities, Beijing expects to see a large rise in tourism after the games are over. Therefore, these hotels and rooms will be put to good use. Demands for quality housing are always around and the condominiums will make good use of this as well.
